Elia Group in Belgium seeks a meticulous protection systems engineer to configure and optimize high‑voltage protection settings across the grid. You will calculate, document and monitor settings, collaborating with engineering and operations teams to ensure safety and reliability.

The role blends technical analysis, field verification and continuous improvement, offering exposure to protection coordination, grid analysis and new technologies as Belgium advances its energy transition.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in electrical protection, commissioning or similar activities.
• Bachelors degree or technical qualification in electricity, electronics or electromechanics.
• Knowledge of protection systems and associated software (Digsi, MiCOM Agile, ASR or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical skills and a genuine interest in solving complex technical problems.
• A collaborative approach while being able to work independently.A strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools.
• Proficiency in at least one of the national languages (French or Dutch) as a native language, with willingness to learn the other; English is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Define and calculate protection settings for high‑voltage grid installations.
• Carry out selectivity studies and contribute to the continuous improvement of protection coordination.
• Participate in the analysis of technical incidents and propose the necessary corrective actions.
• Monitor the implementation of settings in the field in collaboration with maintenance and commissioning teams.
• Develop settings related to the connection of new customers and ensure their optimal integration into the grid.
• Produce clear, high‑quality technical documentation to ensure the long‑term retention of knowledge.
• Work with a wide range of in‑house experts on strategic projects for the future of the grid.
