Job summary

Our client is a boutique consulting firm specializing in payments, banking transformation, and financial services advisory across Belgium and Europe. They seek a Payments Consultant to work with banks, fintechs, and payment institutions on modernisation and regulatory initiatives.

You will engage on SEPA, instant payments, ISO 20022 migrations, Open Banking, PSD2/PSD3, and cross-border payments, while collaborating with senior leaders and clients in a flexible, hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
• 2–6 years in financial services consulting, banking/payments operations, or fintech.
• Strong understanding of European payments landscape and regulations.
• Knowledge of SEPA, PSD2, ISO 20022, or instant payments frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in English; Dutch and/or French is a strong advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Support consulting engagements for banks, fintechs and payment institutions.
• Analyze payment operations, business processes and customer journeys for improvements.
• Contribute to payments transformation and modernization programs.
• Assist with business analysis, process mapping and requirements gathering.
• Support regulatory and compliance initiatives affecting payments activities.
• Prepare client presentations, reports and project documentation.
• Facilitate workshops and collaborate with business and technology teams.
• Contribute to internal practice development and business growth.
