Job summary

Tactical Advisory Group (TAG) is seeking an Operations & Governance Lead in Leuven to serve as the CEO’s operational right hand. You will own internal operations and ensure they run smoothly, reliably and in line with agreed terms.

This hands-on role involves about 80% execution and 20% guidance of a two-person team, with responsibilities spanning finance, legal/compliance, contract ownership and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Master's degree, preferably in Business Engineering.
• At least four years of relevant experience in a consultancy.
• Native-level Dutch, fluent English.
• Strong grasp of finance and legal/compliance matters.
• Independent self-starter, hands-on, and able to coach a small team.

Job description

As Operations & Governance Lead, you are the CEO’s operational right hand. You take ownership of TAG’s internal operations and make sure they run smoothly, reliably and in line with what has been agreed, including when the CEO is travelling or focused on the business. You report directly to the CEO and guide a team of two.

This is first and foremost a hands‑on role. Expect around 80% of your time to go into doing the work yourself, and around 20% into steering and coaching the team.

• Internal operations: you own the daily operational follow‑up, resolve bottlenecks and step in where agreed procedures are not, or not sufficiently, followed.
• Financial oversight: you manage the financial administration, controls, budgets and reporting, working closely with our external accountants.
• Legal and compliance: you coordinate legal and compliance matters, draft contracts and engage specialist advisers where needed.
• Contract ownership: you manage approvals, signatures, renewals and contractual obligations, so that nothing slips through the cracks.
• Quality and processes: you introduce practical processes with clear responsibilities and reliable follow‑up, and you make sure they are actually applied.
• Operational continuity: you make sure critical processes have clear owners and backups, and that decision‑making and escalation arrangements are clear and work in practice.
• Team: you set priorities for two team members, coach their performance and ensure delivery.
• Reporting: you keep the CEO informed with clear, concise status reporting.

What we expect

• A master’s degree, preferably in Business Engineering.
• At least four years of relevant experience, preferably in a comparable role within a consultancy, so you understand how a consultancy business model works.
• Native-level Dutch, both spoken and written, is essential. You also communicate fluently in English.
• A strong grasp of finance and a solid understanding of legal and compliance matters, including knowing when to call in a specialist.
• You are meticulous and rigorous: precise, thorough and uncompromising on accuracy. Inconsistencies do not escape you, and you follow them through.
• You are an independent self‑starter who finds your way through the organisation and takes ownership without waiting to be asked.
• You are hands‑on: as comfortable doing the work yourself as organising it.
• You are assertive and challenge constructively, at every level of the organisation.
• You handle sensitive information with discretion and maturity.
• You value an open, no‑nonsense feedback culture that works both ways.
