Qualifications

• Experience within operational risk, risk management, compliance, audit or assurance.
• Strong understanding of operational and non-financial risk management frameworks.
• Ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear insights and recommendations.
• Experience working with stakeholders across multiple business areas.
• Confidence presenting information and providing challenge to senior colleagues.
• Knowledge of financial services and regulated environments; exposure to Belgian or EU frameworks is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver assigned operational risk oversight activities including risk assessments, control testing, incident reviews and thematic analysis.
• Monitor risk exposures and assess alignment with risk policies, standards and appetite.
• Provide evidence-based challenge and practical recommendations to stakeholders across the business.
• Identify emerging risks, trends and control weaknesses to drive continuous improvement.
• Produce clear reporting for senior management and risk committees.
• Contribute to LIC's annual Risk Plan development and delivery.
• Promote a strong risk culture through collaboration and communication.
• Build trusted relationships across LIC and its European branch network.

Lloyd's is seeking to recruit an Operational Risk Associate to join the Risk Management team at Lloyd's Insurance Company (LIC) in Brussels. You'll play an important role in overseeing and enhancing our operational risk framework, working closely with stakeholders across the business to identify risks, challenge thinking and support positive outcomes.

This role offers broad exposure across operational risk, giving you the opportunity to influence how we manage risk in areas such as operational resilience, outsourcing and third-party risk, information security, data risk and regulatory compliance.

You'll have the autonomy to take ownership of key activities while working alongside experienced risk professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment.

What You'll Do

• Lead and deliver assigned operational risk oversight activities, including risk assessments, control testing, incident reviews and thematic analysis.
• Monitor risk exposures and assess alignment with risk policies, standards and appetite.
• Provide constructive, evidence-based challenge and practical recommendations to stakeholders across the business.
• Identify emerging risks, trends and control weaknesses, helping drive continuous improvement.
• Produce clear and insightful reporting for senior management and risk committees.
• Support the development and delivery of LIC's annual Risk Plan.
• Promote a strong risk culture through collaboration, communication and sharing good practice.
• Build trusted relationships across LIC and its European branch network.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a risk professional who combines analytical thinking with strong stakeholder engagement skills.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience within operational risk, risk management, compliance, audit or assurance.
• A strong understanding of operational and non-financial risk management frameworks.
• The ability to analyse complex information and translate it into clear insights and recommendations.
• Experience working with stakeholders across multiple business areas.
• Confidence presenting information and providing challenge to senior colleagues.
• Knowledge of financial services and regulated environments.
• Experience interpreting and applying regulatory requirements. Exposure to Belgian or EU regulatory frameworks would be an advantage.
• Insurance experience is helpful, but not essential. We're interested in people with transferable skills and relevant experience from across financial services.
