Job summary

Xintas is seeking a System Engineer to support Linux-based IT infrastructure and the Splunk platform. The role combines Linux system engineering with Splunk administration and engineering.

The engineer resolves incidents and service requests on Linux systems and Splunk services, using Splunk and OS diagnostics to identify and fix issues, perform routine maintenance, and implement changes with minimal disruption according to established processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in IT operations managing Linux-based infrastructure in large-scale environments (enterprise, governmental, or supranational).
• At least 2 years hands-on experience administering and supporting Splunk environments in production.
• Dutch or French: Full professional/native proficiency + English: Professional working proficiency.
• Experience onboarding data sources using Splunk Universal/Heavy Forwarders and standard ingestion methods.
• Practical knowledge of SPL for searches, dashboards, alerts, field extractions, and operational troubleshooting.
• Experience with ITIL-aligned processes: incident, problem, and change management.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash and/or Python.

Responsibilities

• Resolve incidents and service requests affecting Linux systems and Splunk services.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve Splunk data onboarding, forwarders, indexes, sourcetypes, parsing, dashboards, reports, alerts, and field extractions.
• Perform routine maintenance and apply system and platform changes with minimal service disruption.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data sources are correctly integrated into Splunk and Linux systems remain secure and reliable.
• Drive automation through scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code to standardise Splunk and Linux configurations.
