Job summary

Bnewable is seeking an hands-on IT Operations Engineer to own the internal technology environment. You will be the operational backbone for our macOS and Windows setup, M365, security, and vendor relationships while driving our NIS2 and ISO 27001 journey with external advisors.

You will manage onboarding, device provisioning, MDM, and automation initiatives to keep systems reliable and secure. A proactive, ownership-driven mindset is required in a hybrid Mechelen-based role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on IT support, IT operations or sysadmin in a professional setting.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration: identity, access control, security policies.
• Comfortable supporting macOS and Windows environments and hardware.
• Solid networking basics (DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi) and workplace security principles.
• Security and compliance mindset; familiar with ISO 27001, NIS2 concepts and documentation.
• Proactive, ownership-driven attitude; able to drive tasks to completion and manage vendors.
• Fluent in English and Dutch in a business environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-line IT support for macOS, Windows, hardware and SaaS tools.
• Own onboarding: set up accounts, access rights and devices for new hires.
• Monitor system health and perform proactive maintenance; document fixes for future incidents.
• M365 hardening: strengthen identity, access control, endpoints and data protection.
• Lead the NIS2 and ISO 27001 roadmap with external security advisors; audit policies.
• Establish and manage vendor SLAs; review contracts and elevate issues when needed.
• Evaluate AI tools and automation to streamline workflows and improve security posture.

We are seeking a hands-on, proactive IT Operations Engineer to take full ownership of our internal technology environment. This is not a passive helpdesk job where you just close tickets. You are the operational backbone of our workplace technology: keeping our systems reliable and secure, managing our IT vendors, hardening our Microsoft 365 setup, and driving our NIS2 and ISO 27001 security journey alongside external experts.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES & IMPACT

1. Internal IT Support & Workplace Ownership

• Go-To Technical Contact: Provide fast, effective first- and second-line support for our team (macOS & Windows environment, hardware, SaaS tools, and local networking).
• Seamless Onboarding: Ensure new colleagues have their accounts, access rights, and hardware ready on Day 1.
• Proactive Maintenance: Monitor system health, manage device provisioning via MDM (Jump), keep collaboration tools in top shape, and document fixes so issues don't recur.

2. Microsoft 365, IT Security & Compliance

• M365 Hardening: Configure and optimize our M365 tenant, focusing on identity management, access control, endpoint security, and data protection.
• NIS2 & ISO 27001 Roadmap: Act as the internal champion for our NIS2 and ISO 27001 implementation, supported by external security advisors to build, maintain, and audit policies.
• Security Culture: Turn cybersecurity policies into practical, everyday habits for all employees.
• IT Partners & SLAs: Own relationships with hardware, software, and security vendors (including penetration test providers). Review contracts, ensure SLAs are met, and elevate complex issues when needed.
• AI & Smart Automation: Evaluate, set up, and govern modern AI tools and internal automations to streamline workflows and help our business move faster.

WHO YOU ARE

• At least 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT support, IT operations, or system administration in a professional environment.
• Solid hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 (identity, access control, security policies).
• Comfortable supporting macOS / Apple hardware alongside Windows.
• Good understanding of basic networking (DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi) and workplace security principles.
• Security & Compliance Mindset: Interested in structured security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIS2, SOC2). You don't shy away from documentation and compliance.
• Drive & Ownership: You follow through until tasks are finished. You don't make excuses, you take initiative, chase vendors or colleagues when needed, and deliver results.
• Languages: Fluent in English and Dutch.
