Contexte recherche un manager pour son service d'édition d'adaptation, chargé de traduire et adapter du contenu éditorial du français vers l'anglais ou vice versa, tout en gérant l'équipe d'adaptation editors. Le poste, basé à Bruxelles, est à pourvoir à temps plein et hybride, avec 60 % de travail dédié à l'adaptation et 40 % à la gestion d'équipe.

Qualifications

• Langue: bilingue français/anglais; maîtrise du second langue au moins au niveau professionnel.
• Formation: expérience éditoriale et management dans un média.
• Expérience: au moins 3 ans comme rédacteur/éditeur dans une organisation média.
• Compétences en écoute active, adaptabilité et intelligence émotionnelle.

Responsabilités

• Gérer et structurer l'équipe d'adaptation editors (40%).
• Organiser les plannings, congés et charge de travail.
• Établir des routines de management et fournir des retours structurés.
• Recruter et intégrer les nouveaux membres de l'équipe.
• Collaborer avec les autres départements éditoriaux et editors.

Contexte is seeking a manager for its adaptation editor service u2014 the newsroom team that brings our France and EU editions to life. The newly created post would translate and adapt specific editorial content from French to English or vice versa (60%), while also managing the team of adaptation editors (40%).

Why this role?

Contexteu2019s international expansion began in May 2025 with Energy, our first EU-focused English-language vertical, followed by Power in March 2026.

To produce parallel news content in English and French, we rely on a team of part-time adaptation editors. This team will expand to 6 editors with the launch of a third EU vertical in the coming months and needs now a dedicated manager.

This hybrid role will structure the team, support its professional development, and ensure consistent quality standards when translating and adapting between languages.

The Role at a Glance

A full-time position, based in our newsroom in Brussels. Management tasks account for 40% of working time; the remaining 60% for adapting content between languages for one of the verticals (Energy, Power, or the forthcoming new one).

Our publication needs mean your shift would be roughly 1pm-9pm each weekday.

Good to know: You will adapt content into either English or French u2014 whichever is your native language. As a manager, you must be able to understand, challenge, and correct work in either language, and coach the entire team, whichever language they speak.

Responsibilities

As manager:

• Ensure editorial quality and standards: work with the team to develop and maintain a shared adaptation guide (style norms, EU glossary, examples); organise cross-checks; identify recurring errors; work with team members on objectives and action plans.
• Organise schedules and anticipate workload: manage holidays/absence, anticipate news cycles, arrange back-ups, and ensure work-life balance.
• Establish management routines: hold regular group and individual check-ins and provide structured feedback on work.
• Staff the team: oversee recruitment and onboarding of new hires as the team grows.
• Work with other editorial departments u2014 including managing ****editors, proofreaders, etc u2014 to anticipate needs, prioritise tasks, and communicate team needs (tools, training, etc).

As Adaptation Editor

• Adapt content: translate and adapt articles from your assigned vertical into your native language u2014 working autonomously and accurately to meet same-day publication deadlines.
• Ensure editorial excellence: edit and correct your own adaptations before publication, ensuring precision on facts, names, titles, and EU terminology.
• Collaborate with other adaptation editors and journalists: flag ambiguities or errors found in source articles, discuss sensitive adaptation choices, and contribute to the teamu2019s shared bilingual glossary.

Profil recherchu00e9

• Language: Native-level speaker of either ****English or French, with near-native proficiency (at least C2) in the other language.
• Editorial and management: A background in journalism or related experience is required; you have at least three yearsu2019 experience as an editor in a media organisation. You have previously managed a team u2014 however small or for however short a period u2014 and understand what the role entails day-to-day.
• Active listening, adaptability, and emotional intelligence: You are attentive to othersu2019 needs and tailor support to individual expectations, constraints, and ambitions. You are skilled at giving and receiving feedback.
• Diligence: You are thorough in your work and have an eye for detail.
• EU: You have a solid understanding of how EU institutions operate, or are keen to deepen it.
• Appreciation for cross-functional work and change: You enjoy working with a wide range of people, in a dynamic environment, while building and energising a new team.
