Job summary

POLITICO Europe seeks an experienced Finance Director, Global Controller to lead our global accounting function from Brussels. You will partner with the CFO and Finance leadership to ensure accurate, scalable financial operations across multiple entities, regions, and regulatory environments.

You will own the close, IFRS consolidation, policy setting, ICFR, and external audits, while transforming processes, automating close cycles, and building a high-performing global team to support POLITICO’s

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive accounting experience at international groups, incl. regional/global Controller roles.
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA/ACCA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) and degree in accounting/finance.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and US GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Lead global close and IFRS consolidation for group reporting.
• Set accounting policy and final voice on complex judgements (e.g., subscription revenue).
• Lead statutory reporting and filings in all jurisdictions.
• Own financial governance and ICFR; liaison with external auditors/IA.
• Oversee tax accounting, transfer pricing and indirect tax compliance.
• Partner with tax/legal on international structure and entity setup.
• Support acquisitions from due diligence to post-deal integration.
• Lead purchase accounting and impairment testing.
• Oversee disposals, restructurings, carve-outs.
• Drive automation of finance processes (Workday, order-to-cash).
• Build and lead the global accounting team and measure success.
