Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd in Brecht, Belgium, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop and test software for embedded hardware. Qualifications

• Degree in electronics, computer science, software engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience developing embedded software, with strong skills in C and C++.
• Experience working with microcontrollers or embedded processors and their peripherals.
• Understanding of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN or Ethernet.
• Experience debugging at hardware and software level, including the use of standard lab equipment.
• Familiarity with real-time operating systems or embedded Linux.
• Experience with version control, code review and structured software development processes.
• Ability to read schematics and work comfortably alongside hardware engineers.
• Clear written and spoken communication in English.

About the role

Our client is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join its engineering team in Brecht, Belgium, on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will design, develop and test embedded software that runs on electronic hardware, working closely with colleagues across hardware, systems and test.

The role covers the full software lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through to implementation, debugging and release. The Embedded Software Engineer will write reliable, well-documented code for resource-constrained devices, bring up new hardware platforms and make sure the software meets the performance and quality standards the products demand.
