Vivid Resourcing is seeking an experienced Electronics Director to lead the hardware and electronics development function of a growing technology organisation. The role combines technical leadership with strategic responsibility, owning the electronics roadmap and guiding the product lifecycle from concept to industrialisation.

You will lead a team of electronics engineers, collaborating with software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing and product teams to ensure robust, scalable hardware

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience leading electronics hardware development in complex product environments.
• Proven track record managing an electronics engineering team.
• Strong understanding of full hardware development lifecycle.
• Expertise across analogue/digital electronics and PCB design.
• Experience moving products from R&D to production.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

We are looking for an experienced Electronics Director to lead the hardware and electronics development function of a growing technology organisation.

This is a senior leadership role combining technical expertise, people leadership and strategic responsibility. You will take ownership of the electronics development roadmap and provide direction across the full product lifecycle, from early-stage concepts and system architecture through detailed design, prototyping, validation and industrialisation.

You will lead a team of talented electronics engineers while remaining closely involved in the technical direction of the products. Working alongside teams across software, mechanical engineering, systems, manufacturing and product development, you will ensure that hardware solutions are technically robust, scalable and aligned with both customer and business requirements.

The role offers the opportunity to shape the way electronics are developed within the organisation, introduce and improve engineering processes, develop technical capabilities within the team and influence the future technology roadmap. It is particularly suited to someone who enjoys combining hands‑on technical understanding with the broader responsibilities of leading an engineering function.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the electronics/hardware engineering team, providing technical and strategic direction.
• Own the hardware development roadmap and contribute to the wider technology strategy.
• Oversee electronics development from architecture and design through prototyping, testing, validation and production.
• Provide technical leadership across analogue and digital electronics, PCB design, embedded hardware and related technologies.
• Review and guide key architectural and design decisions, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
• Improve hardware development processes, methodologies and engineering standards.
• Work closely with software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing and product teams.
• Support the transition of new designs from R&D into production, with a focus on manufacturability, quality and reliability.
• Mentor engineers and build a strong culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Manage relationships with external technology partners, suppliers and development partners where required.

Your Profile

• Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in electronics/hardware development, ideally within a complex product environment.
• Proven experience leading or managing an electronics engineering team or function.
• Strong understanding of the complete hardware development lifecycle.
• Broad technical knowledge across analogue and digital electronics, PCB development and hardware architecture.
• Experience taking products from R&D through to industrialisation and production.
• Strong technical leadership, communication and people-management skills.
• Able to operate comfortably at both strategic and technical levels.
