act digital is seeking an experienced mainframe back-end engineer to join our Brussels team. You will design, code and test core mainframe applications, translating business requirements into robust technical solutions.

The role involves developing with COBOL, PL/1, EGL and DB2, performing self and peer reviews, and coordinating changes within an international context. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on quality and delivery.

Competenze

• Five+ years in designing and coding back-end software applications.
• Solid mainframe experience with COBOL, PL/1, EGL and DB2.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical design.
• Independent, quick learner, and open to innovation.
• Team player with strong communication and coordination skills.
• Experience in financial markets is a plus.
• Proficiency in Dutch (preferred) and English (essential).

Le poste :

You will join our team of experts in mainframe technologies.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Understand the functional design, based on the functional specifications.
• Draw up the program structure based on the technical design.
• Create and execute tests cases and modify existing programs for production.
• Design related changes to be updated in the design document.
• Conduct self & peer code review.
• Resolve the assigned incidents and defects and track to closure.
• Execute technical integration testing of the application in relation with interfacing applications.

What profile are we looking for this position:

Must-have skills :

• At least 5 years of experience in creating designs and codes for back-end software applications
• Solid technical experience in a mainframe environment (COBOL, PL/1, EGL, DB2, IDz Workbench, CI/CD-GITHUB, Changeman, etc.)
• The ability to translate business requirements into a functional and technical design.
• Ability to work independently, get up to speed quickly (both technically and functionally), and be open to innovation
• A team player, both with IT and business colleagues
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey your ideas to others in a clear and structured manner
• You function well in a complex environment that requires a great deal of coordination with various stakeholders.
• Experience in the financial markets and investments is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Dutch (ideally) and English is essential (international context)
