Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking an experienced backend developer to join our technical team in Brussels. The role focuses on translating business requirements into detailed technical designs while maintaining robust backend software in a mainframe environment.

You will translate requirements into design, develop and maintain mainframe backend systems, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend development within a mainframe environment.
• Strong COBOL, PL/1, EGL, and DB2 expertise.
• Experience with IDz Workbench, Changeman, and GitHub.
• Ability to translate business requirements into functional and technical specs.
• Experience with Agile methodologies in complex environments.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.

• You have solid technical expertise in COBOL, PL/1, EGL, and DB2.
• You bring experience with development and versioning tools such as IDz workbench, Changeman, and GitHub.
• You possess the ability to translate business needs into functional and technical specifications.
• You're experienced in working with Agile methodologies in complex environments.
• You are proactive, analytical, and capable of working independently while collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
• You are fluent in Dutch and English.
