Job summary

act digital is seeking an experienced mainframe back-end engineer to join our Brussels team. You will design, code and test core mainframe applications, translating business requirements into robust technical solutions.

The role involves developing with COBOL, PL/1, EGL and DB2, performing self and peer reviews, and coordinating changes within an international context. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on quality and delivery.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in designing and coding back-end software applications.
• Solid mainframe experience with COBOL, PL/1, EGL and DB2.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical design.
• Independent, quick learner, and open to innovation.
• Team player with strong communication and coordination skills.
• Experience in financial markets is a plus.
• Proficiency in Dutch (preferred) and English (essential).

Responsibilities

• Understand functional design from specifications.
• Draft program structure based on technical design.
• Create and execute tests and update production programs.
• Design changes to be updated in the design document.
• Conduct self and peer code reviews.
• Resolve incidents and defects and track to closure.
• Perform technical integration testing with interfacing apps.
