Job summary

POLITICO is seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer with a strong backend orientation to join our Brussels-based technology team. The role is hybrid (4 days in the office, 1 day remote) and focuses on building scalable backend services for the POLITICO Pro platform.

You’ll work across the stack, shaping data pipelines, APIs, and AI-enabled features, while collaborating with frontend teams when needed. The ideal candidate excels in systems design, cloud infrastructure, and multi-service

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing backend services and APIs.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals and system design skills.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and modern web development.
• Experience with frontend frameworks such as React or Vue; understanding asynchronous systems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and IaC (Terraform) and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing backend services and APIs.
• Building and improving data processing systems and background jobs.
• Contributing to frontend applications when needed.
• Working with modern cloud infrastructure and serverless architectures.
• Participating in the evolution of data and intelligence systems.
• Contributing to AI-enabled features like RAG pipelines and speech processing.
