EXMAR Group in Antwerp seeks an Accountant to reinforce the Accounting & Consolidation team. The role covers daily bookkeeping, closing procedures, intercompany reconciliations, and preparation of statutory accounts.

You will support Belgian subsidiaries, ensure compliance with Belgian GAAP and VAT, and assist with audits. Fluent English and Dutch are required; MS Office, especially Excel, is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position.
• Ability to meet internal/external reporting deadlines.
• Ability to support the senior accountant in periodic closing figures.
• Solid knowledge of Belgian GAAP and VAT.
• Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Excel.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Dutch.

Responsabilités

• Carry out daily bookkeeping tasks (posting invoices, recording bank statements, maintaining ledger accounts).
• Prepare figures for monthly/quarterly closing by performing closing procedures and reviewing trial balances.
• Assist the audit team during reviews by providing supporting documentation.
• Manage ledger accounts including fixed assets, provisions and accruals, and ensure correct registration in the accounting software.
• Handle clients & suppliers administration including invoices, follow-up of receivables and balances.
• Prepare tax declarations (monthly VAT, yearly customer listing) and assist with corporate income tax administration.
• Perform monthly/quarterly intercompany reconciliations.
• Upload figures in the consolidation software.
• Prepare quarterly information per group instructions.
• Prepare yearly statutory accounts and ensure timely filing of annual accounts at NBB.

The EXMAR Group is currently looking for an Accountant to reinforce the Accounting & Consolidation team in Antwerp.

Your role in the team

To support the accounting of Belgian subsidiaries of the EXMAR Group in order to make sure the Group and its subsidiaries comply with the applicable accounting standards and requirements.

The Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager.

Your responsibilities and tasks include:

• Carry out daily bookkeeping tasks (posting invoices, recording bank statements, maintaining ledger accounts)
• Prepare figures for monthly/quarterly closing by performing closing procedures and reviewing trial balances (incl. analytical review and account reconciliations).
• Assist the audit team during reviews by providing support documentation.
• Take care of ledger accounts including follow-up of administration (fixed assets, lube oil, provisions and accruals), registration of cashbooks and ensuring correct registration in the accounting software.
• Take care of clients & suppliers administration incl. preparation/ registration/ filing/ follow-up of outgoing/incoming invoices, follow-up of unpaid receivables and balances.
• Take care of tax declaration (incl. monthly VAT, yearly customer listing) and assist with corporate income tax administration.
• Perform monthly/quarterly intercompany reconciliations.
• Upload figures in the consolidation software.
• Prepare quarterly information in accordance with the group instructions.
• Prepare yearly statutory accounts and ensure timely filing of annual accounts at NBB.

Your profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position;
• You are able to respect internal/external reporting deadlines;
• You are able to support the senior accountant in the periodic closing figures;
• Good knowledge of Belgian General Accepted Accounting Principles and VAT;
• Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel in particular);
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Dutch.
