Job description

Add expected salary to your profile for insights

Enliven Community is a non-for-profit organisation which strives to empower people with a disability to govern what supports they share and how it is delivered.

We created the Choice Collective model (transitioning from the previous name Community Cooperative) which we deliver as our core business. A Choice Collective (Collective) is a group of people who share a home, onsite support services, or both. They come together to increase their choice and control of the supports they share. This enables the group to raise common feedback to their providers, adapt services to their needs and preferences, communicate and document what quality services look like to them and make decisions about the supports that they share. The Choice Collective is supported by a Choice Collective Facilitator (Facilitator).

This is a new and innovative service, which choice and control are central to. This was endorsed in the NDIS Review Panel, recommending that the Shared Support Facilitator (another name for this role) be commissioned by the NDIA for all participants sharing supports.

We have a national presence of both staff and participants, with the head office being in Sydney. While a separate organisation, Enliven Community is part of the Enliven Group – a forward thinking, passionate group or organisations and companies focussed on safe, secure housing where the tenant’s choice and control is central to all offerings.

General Overview

We are excited to be growing our service and are seeking like-minded people who are passionate about choice and control for people with a disability to join our team. You will have skills in group facilitation, working with the disability community, and strong interpersonal skills.

You will join a team of existing Facilitators. You will be supported in your practice by a senior Facilitator (Team Leader), and in administration by a shared assistant. The role is a blend of face-to-face time with the Collectives, and desk time.

You will be the Lead Facilitator for up to 17 Choice Collectives in your region. Each Collective is scheduled to meet 4-8 times per year.

Specific Duties

Use facilitation skills to run Collective meetings, ensuring all attendees are comfortable, understanding and heard. This includes clear communication, adaptability, and dispute management.

Ensure the effective planning, delivery and follow-up of all Choice Collective meetings, including administration and logistical responsibilities.

Adapt meetings and communication to the needs and preferences of participants, including use of communication aides and delivering information in accessible formats as required.

Facilitate meetings to a standardised agenda schedule; adapting this to needs and preferences as required.

Ensure objectivity and active listening to participants. Amplify their collective voice based on their requested support – Facilitators do not make decisions on the group’s behalf, or act on individual matters. Instead, they should empower participants with the skills and confidence to self-advocate.

Build relationships with service providers, as directed by the Choice Collectives’ working collaboratively to seek positive outcomes for participants.

Assist participants to replace a support provider where required.

Work collaboratively with team, including shared assistant. Report meaningfully to management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Vital:

Demonstrated experience to facilitate group workshop-style sessions.

At least three years’ experience in disability services or a related field.

Experience working with people with a variety of communication styles and accessibility needs

Well-developed communication and negotiation skills and the ability to develop stakeholder relationships.

Proficiency in English written and spoken

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

Strong commitment to meeting deadlines and achieving results

Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite

Current driver’s licence or reliable transport (any state/territory).

Eligible to pass the NDIS worker screening which involves Police checks across multiple state jurisdictions.

First Aid Certificate (Current or willing to obtain)

Values of person-centredness, collaboration, adaptability, resilience, autonomy, initiative and inclusion.

Experience and understanding of supported decision making

Robust understanding of NDIS Home and Living Supports

De-escalation and conflict management skills

Skills and training in easy-read and plain English communication

Confidence using technology e.g. online meetings, and AV equipment. Experience using Canva and Monday.com CRM

Travel

Driving is a requirement for travelling to Collective meetings near the homes of participants. You will need to have a car and current driver’s license or other reliable transport.

From time to time you will be required to travel interstate to connect with the wider team.

Enliven Community’s Commitment to Diversity

As a company that strives to build a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change, Enliven Community values diversity and celebrates the contributions of people of all backgrounds, regardless of their abilities, age, ethnicity, colour, religion, socio-economic status, culture, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to support your application process.

The Package

This role will be based in our Melbourne office. When required, you will hold face to face meetings at an appropriate venue near the Choice Collective participants homes.

Standard office hours are required, however from time to time there can be some task, travel or meetings that occur outside of normal business hours to accommodate the availability of participants.

We have an 80% in-office policy (i.e. full-time staff are in-office 4 days per week). Flexibility is available as required to deliver out of hours Collective meetings.

Standard inclusions include option to salary package, travel allowance, a laptop and a phone.
