Job summary

The Salvation Army Australia is seeking a Youth Case Manager to support young people and families in outreach and a residential rehabilitation setting. You will deliver case management, advocacy, and tailored plans within a trauma-informed framework, helping clients achieve lasting wellbeing.

Ideal applicants hold a relevant degree (or diploma with experience), with at least 2 years in similar roles, and demonstrate strong communication and advocacy skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services or related discipline; Diploma also acceptable with experience.
• Minimum 2 years' case management experience with disadvantaged or complex-needs clients.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, mental health, and adolescent development.
• Culturally capable work with diverse young people and families.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and advocacy skills.
• Calm, professional approach in complex situations.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to reflective practice and ongoing learning.

Make a real difference in a young person’s recovery journey. The Salvation Army is seeking a passionate and experienced Youth Case Manager to support young people and young families experiencing challenges related to alcohol and other drug use. This role will work with young people in outreach, as well as a small cohort of young people in a residential rehabilitation centre. Working within a trauma-informed and psychologically informed practice framework, you’ll empower young people to achieve positive outcomes through tailored case management, advocacy, and holistic support.

About The Role

What You’ll Bring

• Degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services or a related discipline (minimum Diploma qualification considered with relevant experience)
• At least 2 years' experience in case management with disadvantaged or complex-needs clients
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, mental health, and adolescent development
• Experience working with culturally diverse young people and families
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and advocacy skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in complex and unpredictable situations
• Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to reflective practice and continuous learning

Essential Requirements

• Current Driver's Licence
• Blue Card / Working with Children Check
• Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
