Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a hands-on Yard Operator in Australia to prepare, organise and maintain rental equipment, operate machinery, and support day-to-day yard activities. You’ll inspect gear, test and stage equipment, and assist customers during pick-up and return.

Ideal candidates bring experience in related industries, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. Forklift experience and LF Licence are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in equipment hire, construction, transport, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or a similar industry.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliability, initiative and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting and preparing rental equipment for customer collection and return.
• Cleaning, testing and staging equipment to company standards.
• Safely loading and unloading equipment using forklifts and material handling equipment.
• Organising equipment and yard storage areas to maximise efficiency and accessibility.
• Conducting routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Assisting customers during equipment pick-up and return.
• Supporting workshop, transport and branch operations as required.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe yard and work environment.

We're looking for someone who enjoys physical, hands-on work and takes pride in keeping equipment and work areas organised and ready for action. You'll ideally bring:

• Experience in equipment hire, construction, transport, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing or a similar industry.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Forklift operating experience and a current LF Licence (preferred).
• A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
