Job summary

Titan Ford Brookvale is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller to join our busy Service Department. This key role manages the day-to-day flow of work through the workshop, ensures technicians are loaded efficiently and jobs progress to completion on time.

Working closely with the Service Manager, Service Advisors and technicians, you will act as the central link between front-of-house and the workshop, upholding workshop standards and driving Right First Time performance.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a dealership workshop or service team.
• Understanding of workshop operations and workflow.
• Automotive trade qualification preferred.
• Good mechanical knowledge.
• Strong productivity and labour performance understanding.
• Current Australian driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Control and coordinate the daily flow of work through the workshop.
• Allocate and prioritise jobs across technicians based on skill and workload.
• Ensure technicians are loaded and hours utilised.
• Monitor productivity, efficiency and utilisation.
• Manage unapplied time and identify issues.
• Address delays, parts issues or additional work promptly.
• Maintain visibility over WIP and progress completed jobs.
• Provide updates to Service Advisors on job progress.
• Ensure clocking and allocations reflect work performed.
• Coordinate additional work and avoid delays.
• Support technicians with workflow and escalate issues.
• Maintain manufacturer processes and workshop standards.
• Drive Right First Time performance and minimise rework.
• Support apprentices and technicians and drive discipline.
• Work with Service Manager to improve productivity.

Working closely with the Service Manager, Service Advisors and technicians, you will be the central point of coordination between the front of house and workshop.

Key Responsibilities

• Control and coordinate the daily flow of work through the workshop
• Allocate and prioritise jobs across technicians based on skill level, workload and promised completion times
• Ensure technicians are effectively loaded throughout the day and available hours are being utilised
• Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency and utilisation throughout the day
• Actively manage unapplied time and identify issues as they occur
• Monitor jobs in progress and proactively address delays, parts issues or additional work requirements
• Maintain visibility over WIP and ensure completed jobs are progressed promptly
• Work closely with Service Advisors to provide accurate and timely updates on job progress
• Ensure technician clocking and job allocation accurately reflect work being performed
• Coordinate additional work and ensure approved work is allocated without unnecessary delay
• Support technicians with workflow and elevate technical or diagnostic issues where required
• Assist in maintaining manufacturer processes, workshop standards and repair quality
• Help drive Right First Time performance and minimise repeat repairs
• Support apprentices and technicians in maintaining strong workshop processes and disciplines
• Work with the Service Manager to continually improve workshop productivity, efficiency and overall performance

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Workshop Controller, Workshop Foreman, Senior Technician or similar dealership workshop leadership role
• Strong understanding of dealership workshop operations and workflow
• A recognised automotive trade qualification would be highly regarded
• Good mechanical and technical knowledge
• Strong understanding of technician productivity, efficiency, utilisation and labour performance
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• The ability to manage multiple jobs and competing priorities in a busy workshop
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with technicians, Service Advisors and management
• A proactive approach — you identify issues and act on them rather than waiting for them to become problems
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
• A positive, accountable and hands-on approach
• A current Australian driver's licence

Previous Ford dealership experience, Ford technical training or experience with ERA would be highly regarded, however experienced candidates from other manufacturers are encouraged to apply.
