Workshop Controller | Albury NSW | $40 - $47 per hour | Premier automotive company

JPEX Recruitment is partnering with a respected and established automotive dealership, operating for over 75 years in Albury/Wodonga to recruit an experienced Workshop Controller.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Automotive Technician, Foreman, Team Leader or Workshop Supervisor looking to take the next step in their career and lead a busy service workshop.

Reporting to the Aftersales Manager, you'll be responsible for coordinating workshop operations, allocating jobs, supporting technicians and apprentices, maintaining quality standards and ensuring efficient workshop performance. The role acts as the key link between the workshop floor, service advisors and management while driving productivity, safety and customer satisfaction.

The Role:

As Workshop Controller, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the workshop to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

• Allocating repair orders and workshop jobs to technicians based on skill level, availability and workshop capacity
• Monitoring workflow and job progress throughout the day
• Adjusting technician workloads to meet customer commitments
• Liaising with Service Advisors and Parts departments regarding job status and requirements
• Providing technical support and guidance on complex repairs and diagnosticsConducting quality checks before vehicle handover
• Ensuring all work complies with manufacturer standards
• Supervising, coaching and mentoring technicians and apprentices
• Supporting apprentice training and development
• Monitoring workshop productivity and labour efficiency
• Maintaining workshop records and performance data
• Leading toolbox meetings and promoting continuous improvement
• Maintaining a safe, compliant and organised workshop environment

About You:

To be successful, you will have:

• Trade qualification in Automotive Mechanical Technology or equivalent
• Experience leading, mentoring, supervising or coordinating other technicians
• Strong organisational and workshop planning skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to quality workmanship, customer service and workplace safety

Highly regarded:

• Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Foreman or Team Leader
• Experience mentoring apprentice technicians
• Licensed Vehicle Tester endorsement or ability to obtain
• Diploma of Automotive Technology
