Job summary

McMahon Services is seeking a motivated WHSEQ Advisor to join our Adelaide team. You’ll work closely with Project Managers and operations to implement WHSEQ across projects, providing practical advice, mentoring and risk-based guidance.

You’ll conduct site observations, assist with risk assessments, SWMS/JSEA reviews, incidents, and audits, and travel regionally to support SA sites as required. A hands-on role focusing on Safety Certainty 2.0 and positive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety.
• Previous WHSEQ experience within construction or a similar operational environment.
• Good understanding of WHSEQ principles and practical risk management.
• Understanding of construction methodologies and site-based operations.
• Construction Industry White Card.
• Current Driver’s Licence.
• First Aid qualification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with operational teams and stakeholders.
• Good organisation and time management skills.
• Confidence working independently while remaining part of a broader team.
• Competent Microsoft Office skills.
• A positive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
• Flexibility to travel to regional South Australian project sites when required.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams with the implementation of our Safety Certainty 2.0 Program.
• Provide practical WHSEQ advice, guidance and mentoring to operational teams.
• Support the use of Serious Injury, Fatality and Environmental Risk (SIFER) tools.
• Conduct site observations, assessments and WHSEQ activities.
• Assist with the development and review of project risk assessments.
• Support the development and review of SWMS and JSEAs.
• Attend pre-starts and toolbox meetings and encourage workforce engagement.
• Monitor workforce induction and training compliance.
• Assist with subcontractor onboarding from a WHSEQ perspective.
• Conduct and support incident investigations and communicate lessons learned.
• Support project teams in preparing for internal and external audits.
• Assist with WHSEQ Management Plans and project-specific requirements.
• Build positive relationships with operational teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Visit regional project sites when required to provide practical WHSEQ support.

McMahon Services is looking for a motivated and proactive WHSEQ Advisor to join our team in Adelaide, South Australia.

As we continue to strengthen our WHSEQ capability, we’re building a fantastic team of WHSEQ professionals who are passionate about working with our people, supporting our projects and creating positive safety, quality and environmental outcomes across the business.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys working closely with operational teams, building relationships and being actively involved in how WHSEQ requirements are implemented across our projects.

You’ll provide practical advice and support, help teams identify and manage risk, contribute to incident investigations and audits, and support the implementation of our Safety Certainty 2.0 Program.

While the role will be based in Adelaide, our projects take us across South Australia, so there will be times when you’ll need to travel to regional project sites to support our teams.

About The Role

As a WHSEQ Advisor, you’ll work closely with Project Managers, operational teams and the wider WHSEQ function to support the effective implementation of WHSEQ requirements at project level.

A key focus will be providing practical advice, mentoring and support to operational teams while helping drive compliance with McMahon Services' Business Management Systems and Safety Certainty 2.0 Program.

You’ll be involved across risk management, site observations, inductions and training, SWMS and JSEAs, incident investigations, subcontractor onboarding, audits and day-to-day safety engagement.

While primarily Adelaide-based, you’ll also need the flexibility to visit regional South Australian projects from time to time, providing on‑site WHSEQ support and building strong relationships with our project teams.
