Job summary

RecruitShop in Brisbane, Australia is seeking a WHS & Compliance Lead to establish and manage safety systems, processes and documentation for a growing electrical and solar contractor.

You will conduct on-site safety audits, verify SWMS and Take 5s, and drive ongoing improvements while coordinating audits and monitoring licences and apprentices. Immediate start available in a family-owned, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety required.
• Experience in WHS role, preferably construction or trades.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site safety audits of technicians (~10 per month).
• Verify safety documentation (SWMS, Take 5s, test results, job records).
• Improve and evolve safety processes and procedures.
• Set up and manage the audit schedule, coordinate client audits.
• Track licences, tickets and apprentice supervision.
• Deliver safety inductions for new starters, apprentices and subcontractors.

About The Opportunity

The primary purpose of this position is to implement and manage the workplace health and safety (WHS) and compliance functions.

This is a newly created role where you will take ownership of safety systems, processes and procedures.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct on-site safety audits of each technician around 10 a month across residential, commercial, insurance and solar sites
• Verify safety documentation in the office, including SWMS, Take 5s, test results and job records
• Continue improving and evolving safety processes and procedures.
• Set up and manage the company’s audit schedule, and coordinate any audits from clients or builders.
• Track technician licences, tickets and apprentice supervision to keep the team compliant
• Deliver safety inductions for new starters, apprentices and subcontractors.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
• Previous experience in an WHS role, preferably in construction or trades
• Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and compliance requirements
• Proven experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
• Experience developing and implementing policies, processes and procedures
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with staff at all levels
• Proactive, adaptable and organised approach within a growing business
