Job summary

Snowy Monaro Regional Council in New South Wales offers a hands-on traineeship for school leavers to learn by doing. You will earn while you learn, work toward a nationally recognised Certificate III, and receive mentoring from experienced Council staff in water and wastewater operations.

You will learn to inspect and repair water pipes, meters, reservoirs and pumping stations, follow safety rules, complete on‑the‑job training, and study for the qualification while contributing to the local

Qualifications

Completed Year 10 or Year 12 with RoSA or equivalent.
Clear communication and ability to listen and follow instructions.
Willingness to think through problems and adapt to changing priorities.
Organise time and complete tasks reliably and on time.
Reliable, punctual, and a team player who commits to traineeship.
Committed to completing the Certificate III qualification.

Responsibilities

Learn how Council’s water and wastewater systems work.
Help maintain and repair water pipes, meters, reservoirs and pumping stations.
Assist with building and repairing water mains and equipment following plans and safety rules.
Help maintain wastewater drainage systems.
Use tools and equipment safely under supervision.
Work as part of a team and provide service to the community.
Attend and complete on-the-job training and study for Certificate III.
