Job summary

Bega Valley Shire Council invites applications for a Water and Sewer Trainee as part of its Emerging Talent Program. You will undertake vocational studies while gaining hands-on experience across Water Treatment, Sewerage, Network Maintenance and Infrastructure Construction.

The role includes paid study leave and support, with potential travel for residential blocks. Applicants should have a Year 10 equivalent and a NSW Class C driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated analytical and investigative ability to assist in resolving operational problems.
• Ability to participate in the laying, repair and maintenance of water and sewer mains.
• Develop fault-finding and troubleshooting skills relevant to water systems.
• Good written and verbal communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to learning and working safely in an operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Undertake vocational studies and apply theory to practical workplace tasks.
• Assist operation, monitoring and maintenance of water and sewerage infrastructure.
• Assist in construction, installation and repair of water and sewerage infrastructure.
• Assist with maintenance, servicing and cleaning of treatment plant equipment.
• Develop fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across water networks.
