Job summary

Muswellbrook Shire Council is offering a 2 year Traineeship to become a Water and Wastewater Operator. You will assist in operating and maintaining the Council's wastewater system treatment facilities and pumping stations under supervision.

The program runs full-time at 38 hours per week, with the aim to complete a Certificate III in Water Operations. Salary starts at $55,322 per year plus 12% superannuation, with additional staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Higher School Certificate or equivalent.
• Current NSW Drivers Licence.
• Certificate III in Water Operations.
• Fundamental communication, literacy, numeracy and computer skills.
• Demonstrated interest in a career in Local Government.

Responsibilities

• Assist operation and maintenance of Water and Wastewater Plant(s) and raw water pumping stations.
• After competency, provide on-call operations and maintenance service.
• Assist in operation and maintenance of plant equipment including pumps, generators, power tools and vehicles.
• Undertake administration: daily logs, service requests, incident reports and electronic records.
