Job summary

South Gippsland Region Water Corporation in Leongatha is seeking a Watermain Renewal Technician for ongoing, full-time work. The role requires practical construction experience, strong safety discipline, and the ability to read plans while operating relevant plant/equipment.

About The Role

We are currently seeking a qualified person to join SGW as a Watermain Renewal Technician. The key requirements of the role are:

  • Practical Construction and Infrastructure Experience: Demonstrated experience in watermain, pipeline, civil construction, plumbing, building or trade based work, or strong transferable skills from a related hands on trade. Applicants without direct water industry experience must show a clear willingness and capacity to learn watermain construction and renewal.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Commitment to workplace health and safety, including the ability to identify hazards, follow safe work procedures and contribute to a safe working environment when undertaking excavation, trenching, plant operation, traffic management and working around existing underground services.
  • Practical and Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and work instructions, and safely use hand tools, construction equipment and plant relevant to watermain and pipeline construction. Experience operating excavators and other relevant plant is highly desirable.
  • Teamwork, Communication and Reliability: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues, supervisors, contractors, customers and other stakeholders, and reliably contribute to achieving team and program outcomes.
  • Quality and Attention to Detail: Commitment to completing work to a high standard and in accordance with South Gippsland Water procedures, specifications, relevant standards and legislative requirements, with an ability to maintain accurate work records and ensure completed works meet required quality standards.
