Job summary

Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) is seeking a Water Treatment Operator to join our Southern Water Treatment team in Seymour. You will operate, maintain and optimise critical water treatment assets to ensure safe, high-quality drinking water for communities including Seymour, Kilmore and Nagambie.

Qualifications

• Minimum Year 11 education or appropriate trade qualification.
• Understanding of water treatment processes, hydraulics and plant operations.
• Ability to learn computer-based systems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate water treatment plants, systems and storages using SCADA and other monitoring systems.
• Conduct routine water quality testing, sampling and analysis.
• Optimise treatment processes and chemical dosing to maintain compliance with water quality standards.
• Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance across treatment plants and assets.
• Monitor chemical stocks and ensure adequate supplies are maintained.
• Provide a high standard of customer service when responding to enquiries and service requests.
• Participate in an on-call roster and respond to after-hours operational requirements.

About your new role...

Join a supportive and collaborative team in a dynamic outdoor environment. Working both independently and alongside your colleagues, you'll play an important role in delivering safe drinking water to our communities while helping maintain critical water treatment infrastructure.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring and operating water treatment plants, systems and storages using SCADA and other monitoring systems
• Conducting routine water quality testing, sampling and analysis
• Optimising treatment processes and chemical dosing to maintain compliance with water quality standards
• Undertaking preventative and corrective maintenance across treatment plants and associated assets

About you...

We're looking for someone with:

• Minimum Year 11 education or appropriate trade qualification.
• An understanding of, or willingness to learn about water treatment processes, hydraulics and mechanical plant operations.
• Experience using computer-based systems and technology or the ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and interpret results.
• Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, standardised laboratory and water sampling procedures.
• Physical capability to undertake operational and maintenance activities in outdoor environments.
• Strong commitment to Occupational Health and Safety
• A customer-focused approach with the ability to respond professionally and effectively to enquiries.
• Strong communication, problem solving and organisational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to participating in an on-call roster and responding to operational alarms and emergency works when required
• Committed to contributing positively to your team and the organisation.
