Job summary

The City of Ryde is seeking a Customer Service Officer - Waste to support the introduction of the FOGO service. You will be the first point of contact for residents, handling inquiries, processing requests and supporting waste and resource recovery programs.

You will engage with the community and work across channels to deliver timely, accurate information. You will collaborate with the Resource Recovery team, contribute to service improvements, and maintain precise records.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering excellent customer service in a telephone, face-to-face or customer contact environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to explain complex information in a clear and easy-to-understand way.
• Sound problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Confidence using computer systems and technology to manage enquiries and customer requests.
• A professional, positive and empathetic approach when dealing with customers.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality customer service across a range of channels including phone, email and face-to-face interactions.
• Assist residents with waste and recycling enquiries, process service requests, prepare quotes and invoices, support contract administration activities.
• Help ensure Council's waste services meet community expectations.
• Work closely with the Resource Recovery team and contribute to service improvements.
• Maintain accurate records and represent Council at community events and engagement activities.
