Job summary

Council is seeking a Resource Recovery Operator to join the Sustainability team at the Aberdeen Waste Management Facility. This hands-on role involves operating plant and equipment, assisting weighbridge operations, and delivering excellent customer service while ensuring safety and environmental compliance.

The position offers a true 38-hour week, permanent employment with the Council, and opportunities to work across other facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Relevant plant competency certificates or practical experience demonstrating competency to obtain certification.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to operate or learn weighbridge systems and perform related transactions.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently while maintaining a safe environment.
• Commitment to safe plant operation and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant and equipment at the Aberdeen Waste Management Facility.
• Assist weighbridge operations and manage computerised transactions.
• Provide customer service and handle inquiries professionally.
• Keep the facility safe, clean and well-maintained.
• Occasionally support other Council facilities as required.
