Job summary

Upper Hunter Shire Council is seeking a Resource Recovery Operator to join the Sustainability team in Aberdeen. The role is hands-on, based at the Aberdeen Waste Management Facility, and involves operating plant and equipment, supporting recycling and environmental sustainability, and assisting with weighbridge operations.

You will maintain a safe, clean facility, deliver good customer service, and work a true 38-hour week with overtimes potential.

Qualifications

• Relevant plant competency certificates or demonstrated practical experience.
• Current unrestricted driver's licence.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to operate or learn weighbridge systems and perform admin duties.
• Commitment to safe plant operation and environmental compliance.
• Experience in waste management or similar field is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant and equipment at the Aberdeen Waste Management Facility.
• Assist with weighbridge operations and handle computerised transactions.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a clean, safe site.
• Collaborate with the Sustainability team and support across facilities as required.
