Job summary

Mounties Care Freshwater Health Clinic is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our friendly team on a permanent part-time basis (2 days per week, 8:30am–5:00pm). You will be the first point of contact for patients, handling appointments, billing and Medicare-related tasks in a busy general practice.

Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will maintain patient records, support clinical staff and ensure a welcoming, confidential environment that reflects our care-focused culture.

Qualifications

• Experience as Medical Receptionist, preferably in General Practice.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, especially with anxious patients.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in patient information and billing.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills; ability to multitask.
• Comfort with computer systems and medical practice software.
• Professional, reliable and team-focused approach.
• High level of discretion and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients warmly and professionally.
• Manage appointments and patient inquiries, phone calls and reminders.
• Coordinate patient check-ins/check-outs and maintain schedules.
• Process private billing, Medicare claims and patient payments accurately.
• Support with MyMedicare registrations and eligibility checks.
• Maintain accurate patient records in the practice management system.
• Handle recalls, reminders and medical records requests.
• Scan, file and distribute patient documentation.
• Assist doctors and nurses with administrative tasks.
• Keep reception and waiting area clean, organized and welcoming.
