Job summary

Mounties Care Freshwater Health Clinic in Freshwater, NSW seeks an experienced Medical Receptionist to join a friendly team on a permanent part-time basis (2 days per week, 8:30am–5:00pm). You will be the first point of contact, managing bookings, payments and patient flow with care.

You will support doctors and nurses, handle Medicare and private billing routines, maintain patient records and uphold privacy standards while delivering outstanding patient service in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience as a Medical Receptionist, preferably in a General Practice setting.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, especially with unwell or anxious patients.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with patient information and billing.
• Outstanding organisational and time management abilities in a busy environment.
• Proficiency with computer systems and medical practice software.
• Professional, reliable and team-focused approach.
• High level of discretion and patient confidentiality.
• Experience with Best Practice software (highly regarded).
• Experience with HotDoc online bookings and patient communications (highly regarded).
• Knowledge of Medicare billing, MBS item numbers and MyMedicare (highly regarded).
• Familiarity with medical terminology (highly regarded).
• Experience supporting accreditation requirements (highly regarded).

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and visitors in a warm, professional manner.
• Managing appointments, enquiries and telephone calls.
• Coordinating check-ins/outs and maintaining schedules.
• Processing private billing, Medicare claims and payments.
• Supporting MyMedicare registrations and eligibility checks.
• Maintaining accurate patient records in the practice management system.
• Managing recalls, reminders and correspondence.
• Scanning, filing and distributing patient documents.
• Supporting clinicians with administrative tasks.
• Maintaining a clean, welcoming reception and waiting area.
• Ensuring patient confidentiality and privacy compliance.
• Collaborating with clinical and admin teams to deliver a great patient experience.
