Job summary

Mounties Care Freshwater Health Clinic in Freshwater, NSW, seeks an experienced Medical Receptionist to join the friendly, community-focused team on a permanent part-time basis (2 days per week, 8:30am–5:00pm). Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will be the first point of contact for patients and support day-to-day operations.

Your duties include greeting patients, managing appointments and inquiries, processing billing and Medicare claims, assisting with MyMedicare registrations,

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist, preferably within General Practice.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills, especially with unwell or anxious patients.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in patient information and billing.
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities to multitask in a busy environment.
• Confidence using computer systems and medical practice software.
• Knowledge of Medicare billing and MyMedicare is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and visitors with a warm, professional and friendly approach.
• Managing appointments, patient enquiries and telephone calls.
• Coordinating patient check‑ins and check‑outs and maintaining appointment schedules.
• Processing private billing, Medicare claims and patient payments accurately.
• Supporting MyMedicare registrations and assisting with patient eligibility checks.
• Maintaining accurate patient records and updating information in practice management systems.
• Managing recalls, reminders, correspondence and medical records requests.
• Scanning, filing and distributing patient documentation and incoming correspondence.
• Supporting doctors and nurses with a range of administrative tasks.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming reception and waiting area.
• Ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with privacy, accreditation and practice policies.
• Working collaboratively with the clinical and administration teams to deliver an exceptional patient experience.
