Job summary

Indigo Shire Council invites applications for a casual Visitor Experience Officer based in Beechworth, at the Historic Precinct and Visitor Information Centre. You will welcome visitors, deliver tours, and present local history using prepared scripts to showcase Indigo Shire's unique heritage and attractions.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome visitors, inform them of ticket choices, tour options and venue experiences.
  • Deliver introductory talks about the venue and its history to visitors.
  • Provide engaging and informative walking tours and presentations based on provided scripts.
  • Assist with education and tour group visits, delivering education presentations from set scripts when required.
  • Assist with a customer-centric and positive environment at the Visitor Information Centre, ensuring visitors are welcome and well informed.
  • Maintain knowledge of current accommodation, attractions, local events and trends in local tourism.

We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic casual Visitor Experience Officer to join our professional and busy team within the Historic Precinct and Indigo Shire Visitor Information Centres.

The Key Responsibilities of the role are:

Beechworth Historic Precinct Venue Operation:

  • Welcome visitors, inform them of ticket choices, tour options and venue experiences.
  • Deliver introductory talks about the venue and its history to visitors.
  • Provide engaging and informative walking tours and presentations based on provided scripts and activities.
  • Assist the Schools & Public Education Officer with education and tour group visits, and deliver education presentations to groups from set scripts when required.
  • Assist with the development of a customer-centric and positive environment at the Visitor Information Centre, ensuring visitors are made welcome and leave well informed, with a sense of excitement for and anticipation of their time in the Indigo Shire.
  • Maintain knowledge of current accommodation, attractions, local events and trends in local and regional tourism.
