Job summary

Shellharbour City Council is offering a traineeship that combines practical workplace experience with structured learning, open to school leavers and mature-age applicants eligible for the Certificate III in Events. You will gain hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification in event planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement and delivery.

Job description

An exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience while completing a nationally recognised qualification.

You will be part of a team that delivers community activation, events, arts and cultural initiatives and place‑based engagement activities across the Shellharbour Civic Centre and the wider Shellharbour region.

Through a combination of practical experience and formal study, you will develop valuable skills in event planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement and event delivery while contributing to initiatives that bring people together and enhance community life.

The traineeship combines practical workplace experience with structured learning and training, with both the on‑the‑job and theoretical components supported by Council and TAFE and is open to school leavers and mature‑age applicants who are eligible for admission to the Certificate III in Events.

Council's Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) Program aims to build a skilled workforce by creating employment opportunities and developing future talent. As part of the program, you'll receive ongoing training, mentoring and support from experienced professionals while completing a nationally recognised qualification and gaining valuable industry experience.

• Temporary full time, 35 hours per week with access to flexi-time including evening and weekend shifts, up to 24 months (or the duration of the traineeship)
• Salary up to $838.00 per week (based on school level achieved & years out of school with a range from $412.70 for a school leaver up to $838.00 for 5+ years out of school)
• On the job training
• Compulsory course costs are paid by Council
• Up to 3 hours of study time per week
