Job summary

Shellharbour City Council is seeking an enthusiastic Applications Technical Officer to deliver timely administrative services for development applications and planning enquiries. This part-time role is 21 hours per week with hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Starting salary range $42,396–$46,809 per annum, plus 12% superannuation and a range of benefits including novated leasing, retail discounts, corporate fitness programs, EAP support & Learning & Development opportunities,

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in administering development assessments and applications.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.
  • Proactive approach to quality management and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely and accurate administrative services related to development applications and planning enquiries.
  • Provide lodgment support and customer service to council customers.
  • Coordinate with the Applications Coordinator to meet service standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements and governance within the team.

Job description

An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced individual focused on delivering exceptional customer service of applications, including development applications, planning enquiries and lodgment support of relevant applications to customers of Council.

Previous knowledge or experience in the administration of development applications is highly desirable to ensure consistent, timely and accurate service is provided whilst meeting service standards and key performance indicators.

Reporting to the Applications Coordinator, you will be part of an engaging, inclusive and supportive team and contributing in a fast paced and high performing environment.

The Applications Technical Officer plays a crucial role in delivering timely and efficient administrative services related to development applications and planning enquiries. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth interactions between our council and the community, ensuring that all applications are processed accurately and professionally.

This part-time role offers flexibility with hours structured around your needs, providing a balance between work and personal commitments.

About You
  • Certificate IV in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in administering development assessments and applications.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.

  • Commencing salary range from $42,396 - $46,809 per annum (for 21 hours, dependent on qualifications and experience)
