Job summary

MRAEL partnered with Peabody Energy to offer a Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship commencing January 2027, hosted at Centurion Mine. Centurion Mine is building a high-performing team in underground coal mining, transitioning to longwall production, and offering a world-class underground operation.

As an Apprentice, you will follow a structured training plan, learn on the job, and complete your Certificate III in Electrotechnology.

Qualifications

• Year 12 or equivalent is required.
• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade MEM30219 is a key qualification.

Responsibilities

• Complete trade training, workplace competencies and apprenticeship requirements.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of underground mining equipment.
• Participate in planned maintenance activities and breakdown response.
• Develop skills in fault finding across hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Comply with site procedures and safety standards.
• Work with the maintenance team to support reliable mining operations.
