Svitzer Australia Pty Ltd invites expressions of interest for Tug Engineer roles in Albany, WA. You will join a casual pool to support port operations on short notice, reporting to Tug Master and maintaining vessels and equipment.

The role emphasizes safety, hands-on maintenance, and teamwork. Candidates should hold the required coastal certification, AMSA medical, and relevant first aid certifications, with a willingness to relocate if needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or equivalent.
• Valid AMSA Medical that matches your Certificate of Competency.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Solid knowledge of marine engines, propulsion systems, and auxiliary equipment.
• Experience in towage/tug operations is advantageous.
• Strong safety focus and adherence to procedures.
• Ability to stay calm and adapt when conditions change.
• Willingness to embrace technology and sustainable ways of working.
• Right to live and work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Maintain onboard machinery, including engine and deck equipment.
• Carry out maintenance and repair of marine systems and equipment.
• Support safe winch operation during towage jobs.
• Identify and report defects to keep operations on track.
• Prepare maintenance records and operational reports as required.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, regulations and policies.
• Assist on deck to support crew and vessel operations.
• Participate in drills, training and skills development.
