Job summary

Svitzer Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Tug Engineer to keep vessels running safely and reliably. Reporting to the Tug Master, you will maintain onboard machinery, perform repairs, and support towage operations while upholding safety procedures.

You will bring a relevant marine certification (Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal) and AMSA medical, with First Aid/CPR credentials, and a proactive, safety-first mindset. Applicants must have right to work in Australia.

Qualifications

• Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or equivalent.
• AMSA Medical that matches your Certificate of Competency.
• Provide First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Solid knowledge of marine engines, propulsion systems and equipment.
• Right to live and work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all onboard machinery, including engine and deck equipment.
• Carry out maintenance and repair of marine systems and equipment.
• Support safe winch operation during towage jobs.
• Identify and report defects promptly to keep operations on track.
• Prepare maintenance records and operational reports as required.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, regulations and company policies.
• Assist on deck when needed to support crew and vessel operations.
• Participate in drills, training and skills development.
