Job summary

Svitzer Albany invites expressions of interest for a Tug Engineer to join our casual pool in Albany, WA. You’ll help keep vessels safe and reliable, reporting to the Tug Master and performing maintenance, towage support, and safety-driven operations.

Candidates should hold a Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency, AMSA Medical, and CPR/First Aid certificates, with a focus on safety and adaptability to shift work in a dynamic port environment.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of marine engines, propulsion systems and auxiliary equipment.
• Experience working in towage to tug operations is advantageous.
• A strong focus on safety and following procedures to get the job done right.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining onboard machinery, including engine and deck equipment.
• Carrying out maintenance and repair of marine systems and equipment.
• Supporting safe and effective winch operation during towage jobs.
• Identifying and reporting defects promptly to keep operations on track.
• Preparing maintenance records and operational reports as required.
• Ensuring compliance with safety procedures, regulations, and company policies.
• Assisting on deck to support crew and vessel operations.
• Participating in drills, training and skills development.
