Job summary

The Department of Education in Canberra is seeking an Assistant Director, Treasury to lead the department's treasury functions within a complex financial environment. Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the Treasury unit.
• Manage the department’s appropriation management function, including daily appropriation drawdowns, cash forecasting and banking.
• Coordinate monthly reconciliations, clear accounts, and review relevant general ledger accounts.
• Provide high level specialist advice to the wider Departmental network on treasury, revenue, tax, receipting and reconciliation issues.
• Promote continuous improvement of team processes ensuring compliance with legislation and Government policies.
• Identify system improvements within the unit and assist in implementing system enhancements.
• Contribute to the department’s annual financial statements and preparation of reconciliations and workpapers.
• Maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders, including the Department of Finance and the Australian National Audit Office.
• Provide high-quality treasury advice to the Director and stakeholders on risks and operational issues.
• Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, controls and compliance.
• Oversee treasury systems and processes (e.g. CBMS, RBANet, SAP or similar FMIS) and identify optimisation opportunities.
• Ensure accurate and timely treasury communications and inquiries are managed.
• Develop and maintain clear process documentation and operational guidance.
• Build and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
