Job summary

The Australian Capital Territory Education Directorate is hiring an Assistant Director in the Schools Resourcing and Finance Section. This full-time temporary role reports to the Director and provides expert financial, operational and business advice to schools, ensuring compliant, efficient use of funds.

The position emphasizes accountability, best practice in financial management, and ongoing process improvement. The appointment may extend beyond the initial term with potential permanency.

Qualifications

• Accounting degree and membership of a relevant professional body is highly desirable.
• Advanced Excel skills with ability to integrate financial data is highly desirable.
• Proficient as an administrator and developer experience in a range of financial management information systems such as Xero and TM1 is highly desirable.
• Experience in financial management and compliance, particularly in relation to compliance with relevant legislation, policies procedures and guidelines is also highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert financial, operational and business advice to schools to support decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with legislative and Directorate requirements in financial management across schools.
• Lead continuous improvement of financial management processes, systems and practices.
• Promote accountability and best practice in financial management across schools.
