Job summary

Relationships Australia NT in Darwin is seeking an Intake Officer to be the first point of contact for clients accessing counselling and mediation services. The role involves screening, assessment, referral and case coordination to connect people with the right support.

You will work with counsellors and practitioners to ensure safe, trauma-informed service delivery, maintain client records, and provide administrative support as needed.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Social Sciences or relevant discipline.
• Experience in social services and engaging distressed clients.
• Experience in screening and assessment relating to family and relationship issues.
• Knowledge of informed consent and mandatory reporting re family violence and child protection.
• Case management experience including record keeping and liaison with practitioners.
• Strong administrative and digital skills, including databases and software.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience with Aboriginal and CALD communities and willingness to participate in cultural training.

Responsibilities

• Intake from initial contact through screening, assessment, referral and case coordination.
• Work with counsellors and other professionals to support service delivery.
• Provide a compassionate first point of contact for clients in person or via phone/video.
• Screen and assess clients to understand circumstances and needs.
• Identify safety concerns including DV, child safety and self-harm.
• Coordinate client caseloads and waitlists with practitioners.
• Provide internal and external referrals and connect clients with services.
• Maintain accurate client records and database information.
• Liaise with colleagues to ensure safe and trauma-informed intake processes.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgement with sensitive information.
• Contribute to a collaborative multidisciplinary team and community engagement.
