Job summary

Relationships Australia NT in the Northern Territory seeks a passionate Children’s Counsellor / Group Facilitator to join the Children and Families team. You will deliver trauma-informed counselling to children and families, including those affected by Family and Domestic Violence, across onsite and outreach settings.

You will facilitate therapeutic groups for children, support parents and carers, and connect families with services and networks, using a strengths-based, child-focused,

Qualifications

• Qualified in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling with eligibility for or current membership of the relevant professional body or AHPRA registration.
• Experience counselling children and families, including complex trauma, grief, loss or behavioural difficulties.
• Strong understanding of trauma, attachment and child development.
• Excellent communication, assessment, case management and advocacy skills.
• Commitment to cultural safety, safeguarding and working respectfully with diverse communities.

Responsibilities

About the role:

Relationships Australia NT is looking for a passionate Children’s Counsellor / Group Facilitator to join our Children and Families team.

You’ll provide culturally appropriate, trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic interventions for children and families, including those experiencing the impacts of Family and Domestic Violence.

You’ll work across onsite and outreach settings, facilitate therapeutic groups for children, support parents and carers, and connect families with appropriate services and community networks.

This is an opportunity to work with children experiencing complex circumstances while using a strengths-based, child-focused and whole-of-family approach.

About you

You’ll bring:

Relevant qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling, with eligibility for or current membership of the relevant professional body or AHPRA registration.

Experience providing counselling to children and families, including complex trauma, grief, loss or behavioural difficulties.

Strong understanding of trauma, attachment and child development.

Excellent communication, assessment, case management and advocacy skills.

What you’ll need:

• Current or ability to obtain an NT Ochre Card


• Satisfactory National Criminal History Check


• Current NT Driver’s Licence


• Ability to travel to Tiwi regularly
