Job summary

Department of Transport and Planning in Melbourne is seeking five Transport Assessment Officers on fixed-term contracts until 30 April 2027. The roles are based in the Melbourne CBD and will support the rollout of the School Crossing Risk Assessment Framework (SCRAF).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Graduate Certificate in Engineering, Science, Planning or related field required.
• Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence required.
• Experience in road safety, transport planning or traffic engineering is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assess school crossing risks using traffic data, video footage and other evidence to support decision making.
• Validate data, identify trends and prepare clear assessment outcomes and records.
