Job summary

U-Go Mobility seeks a Training Manager to lead the training, learning and workforce capability function across its multi-site operations. You will own the training framework, annual plan, competency standards and learning systems, including apprenticeships and external providers.

You will lead and develop the Driver Trainer Lead, ensure governance of pre-employment drivers and heavy vehicle licensing training, and maintain standards, tools and pathways for critical roles.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent required.
• Tertiary qualification in adult education, training, safety or related discipline preferred.
• Leadership experience in operational training or workforce capability in safety-regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning and competency-based training.

Job description

The Training Manager leads U-Go Mobility's training, learning and workforce capability function across its multi-site operations. The role is accountable for the strategy, systems, governance and assurance arrangements that support safe operations, regulatory compliance and workforce competence. The position owns U-Go Mobility's training framework, annual training plan, competency standards, learning systems, accredited training arrangements, apprenticeships and external training providers. The Training Manager leads the Driver Trainer Lead and provides governance and assurance over the end-to-end driver capability pathway, while the Driver Trainer Lead is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and delivery of operational driver training.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the training function and establish priorities aligned with U-Go Mobility's operational plans, safety risks, compliance obligations and workforce needs.
• Develop, implement and maintain the annual training and capability plan, training calendar and delivery priorities in consultation with operational and functional leaders.
• Lead, coach and develop the Driver Trainer Lead, including performance expectations, professional development, succession planning and leadership capability.
• Set the operating framework, service standards and priorities for the Driver Training team and ensure resources are aligned to business requirements.
• Own the design, governance and continuous improvement of pre-employment driver assessment processes and standards.
• Own heavy vehicle licence training and assessment pathways, including HVCBA governance, assessor standards, evidence quality and audit readiness.
• Establish and maintain competency standards, assessment tools and learning pathways for operational and safety-critical roles.
• Design, commission and maintain blended learning solutions including face-to-face training, workplace learning, eLearning, coaching, practical assessment and reference materials.
• Manage relationships, service quality and compliance with Registered Training Organisations, apprenticeship service providers and specialist training partners.
• Manage training budgets, procurement and expenditure within delegated authority.

About you

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or a current equivalent qualification, is required.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in adult education, training, business, safety or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in operational training or workforce capability within a safety-regulated, transport or heavy industry environment.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning, competency-based training, assessment practice and learning evaluation.
• Experience managing nationally recognised training, RTO relationships, VET compliance, apprenticeships and audit activity.
• Experience managing an LMS, training records, compliance reporting and data quality.
• Demonstrated success in designing and implementing capability initiatives that improve safety, performance or employee readiness.
• Experience managing external providers, budgets, procurement and senior stakeholders.
• Strategic and operational leadership, with the ability to translate business priorities and risk into practical capability solutions.
