Based at SLSNSW Headquarters in Belrose and reporting to the Club Services Manager, you will work closely with clubs, volunteer training managers and the Training & Education team to identify training needs, strengthen trainer and assessor capability, and coordinate effective training delivery.

You will also lead the design, implementation and evaluation of a new training administration support service for priority clubs, supported by the Club Capability Administration Officer.

Key Duties
  • Consult with priority clubs and volunteer training managers to identify current and emerging training needs.
  • Identify gaps in trainer and assessor capability and develop practical plans to address them.
  • Use data, consultation and local knowledge to prioritise club training support.
  • Develop agreed training plans with clubs, branches and relevant SLSNSW stakeholders.
  • Recruit, coordinate and support a pool of casual trainers and assessors.
  • Coordinate courses and other training activities in response to identified club needs.
  • Support co-delivery and development opportunities for probationary trainers and assessors.
  • Maintain oversight of training activity, trainer and assessor availability, delivery progress and emerging issues.
  • Monitor and report on agreed training plans and initiatives.
  • Gather feedback from clubs, participants, trainers and assessors to improve future support.
  • Design and implement a pilot training administration support service for priority clubs.
  • Lead and support the Club Capability Administration Officer in providing course and skills-maintenance administration.
  • Establish clear processes and service expectations so clubs understand what support is available.
  • Evaluate the pilot service and recommend improvements and options for future delivery.
  • Attend relevant club, branch and SLSNSW meetings as required.
About You
  • Experience coordinating training, education or capability-building initiatives.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple activities, stakeholders and deadlines.
  • The ability to identify needs, develop practical responses and follow through on implementation.
  • Experience working with volunteers, community organisations or stakeholder groups with differing needs.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting trainers, facilitators, assessors or a casual workforce.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good digital literacy, including confidence using Microsoft Office and online systems.
  • Availability to undertake some evening and weekend work to support volunteer stakeholders.
  • A current driver’s licence.
  • Experience within Surf Life Saving, a volunteer-led organisation, or the broader sport, emergency-service or community sector would be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of vocational education and training, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or experience designing and evaluating a pilot or new support service would also be advantageous.
What's in it for You?
  • An opportunity to work directly with clubs and volunteers across NSW.
  • Continued learning and development opportunities.
  • Onsite parking at SLSNSW Headquarters.
  • Access to Fitness Passport discounts.
