Norweld Australia seeks an experienced Training & Development Manager to lead learning and capability development across our national workforce. This newly created role will partner with leaders, HR and operations to design practical training and career pathways aligned with our growth.

You will oversee the Early Careers Coordinator, coordinate apprenticeships and work-experience programs, and travel regularly between Cairns and Brisbane locations to ensure programs are delivered effectively.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of learning principles for diverse language, literacy, numeracy needs.

Responsibilities

  • Identify current and emerging training and capability needs with leaders.
  • Develop and maintain practical training plans, calendars, role-based requirements and learning pathways.
  • Coordinate induction, onboarding, technical, systems, compliance, sales, customer service, leadership and employee-development programs.
  • Design learning materials, resources and assessments with internal experts.
  • Facilitate training, workshops and development activities; arrange specialist delivery when needed.
  • Support managers to strengthen workplace instruction, coaching and feedback.
  • Coordinate internal trainers and external learning providers to deliver programs.
  • Evaluate learning participation and effectiveness; improve programs as required.
  • Lead and develop the Early Careers Coordinator and oversee apprenticeship programs.
  • Maintain accurate training systems, records and reporting for compliance and visibility.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Norweld is seeking an experienced Training & Development Manager to lead and coordinate learning and capability development across our national workforce.


This newly created role will work closely with leaders, managers, supervisors, HR, HSEQ and subject-matter experts to identify capability requirements and deliver practical learning solutions aligned with Norweld’s operational priorities and continued growth.This is an opportunity to shape Norweld’s approach to learning and capability with genuine influence across the employee lifecycle. You will work closely with leaders and operational teams, join a supportive People function and contribute to initiatives with visible business and employee impact.


The Training & Development Manager will also lead the Early Careers Coordinator, who is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of Norweld’s apprenticeship, work-experience, school-based and training-provider arrangements. The Manager will provide direction, development and broader program oversight, while operational managers and supervisors retain responsibility for day-to-day workplace supervision, coaching and performance.


The role spans manufacturing, sales, branch operations and support functions. It combines capability planning and program coordination with hands-on learning design, facilitation and evaluation.


The position may be based at our Cairns head office or Brisbane facility. Cairns is preferred; however, applications from suitably experienced Brisbane-based candidates or those open to relocating to Cairns are encouraged. Regular travel between Norweld locations will be required.


Your responsibilities will include:



  • Partnering with leaders and subject-matter experts to identify current and emerging training and capability needs

  • Developing and maintaining practical training plans, calendars, role-based requirements, capability matrices and learning pathways

  • Coordinating induction, onboarding, technical, systems, compliance, sales, customer service, leadership and employee-development programs

  • Designing clear and practical learning materials, resources and assessments in partnership with internal experts

  • Facilitating training, workshops and development activities and arranging specialist delivery where required

  • Supporting managers and supervisors to strengthen workplace instruction, coaching, feedback and employee development

  • Coordinating internal trainers and external learning providers to deliver agreed programs and outcomes

  • Evaluating learning participation, workplace application and effectiveness and improving programs where required

  • Leading and developing the Early Careers Coordinator and maintaining oversight of apprenticeship and early-career program outcomes

  • Maintaining accurate training systems, records and reporting to support compliance, visibility and informed decision-making


WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The successful candidate will be able to translate business and workforce requirements into practical learning solutions. You will be credible with leaders, approachable with employees and comfortable working across both operational and professional environments.


The ideal candidate will have:



  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering workplace learning, training or employee-development initiatives, ideally across multiple teams or locations

  • Experience identifying capability needs and converting them into practical training plans and programs

  • Strong learning-design, facilitation, coaching and evaluation capability

  • A sound understanding of learning principles and the needs of employees with different experience, language, literacy, numeracy and learning requirements

  • Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of an organisation

  • Experience within a manufacturing, trade, automotive, operational or similarly practical environment would be highly regarded

  • Experience coordinating leadership development, career pathways, capability frameworks or employee-development programs

  • Exposure to apprenticeships, vocational education, work experience or early-career programs would be an advantage

  • Strong project and external-provider management capability, together with confidence using learning, HR and reporting systems

  • A practical, organised and solutions-focused approach, with strong attention to detail and follow-through

  • Relevant qualifications in learning and development, training and assessment, education, human resources or a related area; a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable

  • The ability and willingness to travel between Norweld locations as required
