Job summary

Upper Hunter Shire Council is offering a Trainee Compliance Officer role in Scone. This temporary full-time position (35 hours per week) spans a 24-month contract to kickstart your career in local government.

You will learn from experienced officers, supporting animal welfare, regulatory work and community inquiries. You’ll enrol in a Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) and develop practical skills in investigations, record keeping and customer service while contributing to

Qualifications

• NSW RoSA or equivalent.
• Willingness to enrol in a Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or a relevant qualification.
• Ability to handle animals and develop skills with dogs, cats, horses and cattle.
• Effective oral and written communication and numerical skills.
• Well-developed public relations and customer service skills.
• Genuine interest in animal welfare.
• Willingness to participate in on-call and weekend work roster.
• Computer skills including data entry, word processing and spreadsheets.
• High level attention to detail.
• Current unrestricted drivers licence.

Responsibilities

• Respond to community enquiries and assist with regulatory inspections.
• Care for animals in Council’s pound.
• Assist with animal control matters and regulatory investigations.
• Gain experience in investigations, customer service and record keeping.
• Support Council in delivering community services.
