Upper Hunter Shire Council in Scone, NSW, seeks a Building Surveyor for a permanent, full‑time role (35 hours per week). You will assess applications, provide building certification services and carry out inspections to ensure safe, compliant development across the Shire.

You will offer practical advice on building, plumbing and drainage, engaging with customers and colleagues to resolve questions. You’ll be part of the Planning, Building & Regulatory Services team, with opportunities for

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Surveying or related field.
• Eligibility to obtain at least building surveyor–restricted registration for Class 1 and 10 buildings.
• Sound knowledge of building control and development assessment.
• Ability to analyse problems, resolve disputes and communicate with customers and stakeholders.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Assess applications and provide building certification services.
• Carry out inspections supporting safe, compliant development.
• Advise on building, plumbing and drainage requirements and work with customers and colleagues to resolve questions.
